Supplies

Paverpol Transparent, RibbonXL (or a 100% cotton fat yarn), vase, plastic garbage bag, brush, turning table, blow dryer, box/container.

Instructions

Cover a vase or pot in a garbage bag (a few layers). Place your yarn in a container/box, to prevent it from rolling over the table. Place your vase/mold on a turning table. Stir the Paverpol Transparent. Dip about 2 meters of RibbonXL at a time in the Paverpol and make sure it gets saturated. Go over the yarn again with two fingers to make sure the RibbonXL is ‘flat’ again. Start winding RibbonXL around the bottom of your vase. When you create an open top like in the example make sure you have enough yarn criss -crossed around the top. After curing it needs to be able to 'stand' by itself and it won't hold with when you have used too little yarn. Let it dry (with a blow dryer on ‘low’). Brush on another coat of Paverpol. Be careful not to use too much Paverpol in the open spaces, it will dry up looking like plastic. Let it dry for 2 days, take it out of the mold, dry the inside with a blowdryer and place it back on the mold, again wrapped in plastic. Let it stand for a 3 more days. When you want to place it outside, let it cure indoors for at least a week. Then varnish it with a good outdoor varnish.

Note: Objects made with Paverpol can soften a bit when they are placed in a warm/hot environment (e.g. in the sun on a hot summer day). Once it cools down it will harden again.

Left: the RibbonXL hasn’t been flattended.

Right: This is how it should look before you wind it around the vase.
